About Me
I am, in no particular order, Hmong-American (second generation), gay, Christian (non-denominational, pastor’s kid), and likely many other things.
It’s important to know this about me because, throughout my life, these identities and experiences never seemed to make much sense together.
Eventually, as a Marriage and Family Therapist, I realized that there must be others who can relate to my story. That’s essentially how I found myself where I am today: trying to be ourselves can be rough, relationship-ing is hard enough as it is, and families (biological, chosen, or otherwise), in particular, are kind of wild.
Professionally speaking…
I graduated from Antioch University, Seattle, at the end of 2020. My area of focus was Couple’s and Family Therapy (CFT) with a certificate in Sex Therapy.
As a graduate student intern, I worked in a community mental health setting and primarily with families and youth.
During my first year postgrad, I was a part of a group practice that focused on providing sex therapy.
Since the beginning of 2022 and to the present, I am self-employed as a private practice therapist via Thao Therapy Services.
As of January 2024, I became a fully-licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
